School visit in our garden
September 11th 2025 | Today we received over 30 primary school children, to visit our aviaries and birds. It was much fun to tour them around and answer their genuine questions.
Our aviaries house over twenty species of birds, including species that are threatened with excinction. We participate in several breeding programmes such as EAZA's Endangered Species Programme for white-winged duck, Baer's pochard and Madagascar teal.
By receiving school children we have the opportunity to teach this next generation about the rich and unique biodiversity on earth, especially birds, and the threats they face. The children made a puzzle and filled in questions about our birds and about our role in conservation breeding.
"The most important task, if we are to save the Earth, is to educate.” - Sir Peter Scott, founder of WWF and WWT.
